Cbssports reports that Mike Tomlin, who stepped down as Pittsburgh Steelers coach Tuesday, does not plan to coach in 2026, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. NFL Media's Ian Rapoport said several teams contacted Tomlin in the hours after his split with Pittsburgh. At a Wednesday press conference, Steelers owner Art Rooney II said, "Mike indicated that he did not anticipate coaching, at least in the near future," and added that Tomlin "wants to spend time with his family" and that "right now, that doesn't seem to be on his radar." Tomlin, 53, finished with a 119-114-2 record, 13 playoff trips, eight AFC North titles and a Super Bowl title across 19 seasons leading the Steelers; Pittsburgh's last postseason victory was nearly nine years ago.

Tomlin said in a statement, "This organization has been a huge part of my life for many years, and it has been an absolute honor to lead this team," and expressed gratitude to Art Rooney II, the late Ambassador Rooney, the players, coaches and staff. The report says Tomlin appears likely to take at least a one-year hiatus and that a jump to media is a possibility.
