Modiphius’ solo Fallout RPG Wasteland Wanderer — PDF out, physical book due April 2026
Modiphius has released Fallout: Wasteland Wanderer, a solo tabletop RPG PDF available now from the Modiphius store, with the physical book available for pre-order ahead of a planned April 2026 launch. The book is designed to be played without a gamemaster or a party — just the rulebook, dice, a pen and paper.
Ben Maunder, lead writer at Modiphius, told GamesRadar the project was in the works for around two years with planning beginning three years ago, and that Wanderer was created to help players who struggle to find time to play traditional group RPGs. The system includes a Blockers mechanic that generates challenges in a hero’s-journey style, map-generation tools and an expansive lore chapter covering the modern Wasteland.
Maunder said players can either generate Blockers via the rules or select them directly, and that problem-solving mechanics let whole encounters be resolved with a single test if desired. Development passed through multiple designers: Maunder credited Jess Gibbs with laying the foundations for the solo system and Jack Caesar with refining the action system, before Maunder completed a final pass on the book, according to the interview.
Maunder also said Wanderers can be useful to gamemasters, providing lore, quick map generation and tools to create NPC stories that can be dropped into group 2d20 Fallout games. He encouraged solo players to treat journaling or voice recordings as personal storytelling tools and to play in whatever way they enjoy.
