A Steam-focused PC patch for Monster Hunter Wilds arrived last night and, according to player reports and PC Gamer testing, appears to have substantially improved performance. Capcom had announced a multi-patch performance plan, but earlier updates produced mixed results. This month's PC-specific follow-up promised additional graphics and CPU options alongside vague "CPU/GPU optimization," which left some skeptical.

Players on Reddit report vastly improved frametime lows, with some saying "every performance issue I've had is fixed." Steam has seen a massive uptick in positive reviews in the last 24 hours, with players saying they can now "wholeheartedly recommend" the game. One reviewer with 1,042 hours wrote, "After almost a year I can finally recommend this game after today's performance patch." PC Gamer's own anecdotal test found a 4070 maintaining a smooth, 70+ framerate running DLAA without frame gen during Windward Plains sandstorms and the Scarlet Forest's lighting-heavy season.

Some players are also finding settings that yield respectable performance on Steam Deck with significant visual concessions. The coverage cautions that mileage will vary and that you shouldn't expect the game to suddenly run flawlessly if it was genuinely unplayable before.
