Monster Train 2’s Destiny of the Railforged adds new clan, hard Soul Savior mode
Monster Train 2 is getting a paid DLC called Destiny of the Railforged, out February 2 for $10, which adds a new Railforged clan, a free Wurmkin clan, and a challenging new mode called Soul Savior, according to a PC Gamer preview of a pre-release build. The Railforged clan introduces several new mechanics centered on smelting and forge: you can melt cards in hand into energy and forge, produce unplayable scrap that refines each turn, and use forge to buff units and equipment.
The DLC also adds equipment-focused interactions—champion Heph can generate basic equipment on a cooldown, Renovate expands floor capacity, Fused Weaponry can merge equipment mid-round, and a factory unit can spawn burst-imbued mechanical spiders. Wurmkin, a free addition available outside the DLC, brings back room-boosting Charged Echoes and has spells focused on earning and spending Echoes; the reviewer noted Wurmkin’s spells don’t cross-interact deeply with other clans in the way Railforged tend to.
Railforged were described as more universally useful but also tuned to force different draft and play choices—early Covenant 10 runs felt challenging because Railforged lack high base-attack units and damage spells. Soul Savior is a turbocharged new run type with up to three starting “souls,” five bosses per run, and a pool of 33 souls to unlock and draft.
