Neoteck TS20D pen multimeter offers broad features for $24
ZDNET reviewed the Neoteck TS20D 3-in-1 pen-type multimeter, which is available now for $24.
The compact meter handles AC and DC voltages, resistance, diode tests, non-contact voltage testing and capacitance, along with ambient temperature, AC frequency and live and phase sequence identification. It is a 6,000-count unit, giving higher resolution than many cheaper models, and ZDNET lists accuracy at ±1% for AC and ±0.8% for DC.
The TS20D is marked CAT II to 600V and has prong insulators, a high-contrast LCD with large numbers, three side controls, a built-in LED and accessories including clips, fine probes and a carry pouch. It runs on two AAA batteries (supplied), though opening the battery compartment requires a tiny crosspoint screwdriver and the screw is not captive.
ZDNET notes the unit does not handle amperage readings and says a clamp-type meter is preferable for that task. In its buying advice the outlet calls the TS20D a fully featured, well-made and decently accurate tool for around $25, saying it will suit most multimeter tasks and provides good value compared with much pricier options.
