Netflix casts Mckenna Grace as Daphne in live-action Scooby-Doo
Mckenna Grace has been cast as Daphne Blake in Netflix's live-action Scooby-Doo series, an eight-episode reimagining of the Mystery Inc. origin aimed at a young adult audience. Announced in early 2025, the project comes from producers of Riverdale and is the first casting revealed; the rest of Mystery Inc.
— Shaggy, Velma, Freddy and Scooby-Doo — are confirmed to appear. The story follows Shaggy and Daphne during their final summer at Camp Ruby-Spears, when a lonely lost Great Dane puppy — possibly a witness to a supernatural murder — draws them into a haunting mystery.
Joined by the pragmatic, scientific townie Velma and the striking new kid Freddy, they set out to solve a case that spirals into a nightmare threatening to expose each of their secrets. Grace previously voiced a young Daphne in the animated film Scoob! and follows in the footsteps of Sarah Michelle Gellar, who played the character in early 2000s live-action films.
