Netflix's 'Midnight Mass' Horror Miniseries Is a 10/10

Netflix has built a strong slate of horror series, and Mike Flanagan remains one of its most influential creators. While The Haunting of Hill House often gets top billing for its blend of emotional devastation and fear, Midnight Mass stands as a closely matched, deeply affecting work from the same director.

Set on the isolated Crockett Island, the miniseries centers on a tight-knit community that lives almost entirely cut off from the mainland. When the town's priest dies and a charismatic young priest arrives, seemingly miraculous recoveries follow. Those gifts soon reveal a darker source, and the island's small world shifts from wonder to horror.

The show pairs heart with terror, driven by strong performances. Kate Siegel turns in another impressive role, and Hamish Linklater's portrayal of the new priest, Father Paul, may be a career-best—his fiery sermons and chilling presence amplify the series' impact.
