New first-look image shows Milly Alcock as Supergirl in DCU film
Movieweb reports that a new first-look image via USA Today shows Milly Alcock as Supergirl in the upcoming DCU film. The image appears to depict Kara Zor-El aboard what looks to be a spaceship, suggesting a science-fiction-leaning tone.
The movie is directed by Craig Gillespie and written by Ana Nogueira, and it builds on foundations established by James Gunn's Superman and his television projects Peacemaker and Creature Commandos. The first trailer, released a month ago, set a grittier tone and largely showed Supergirl out of costume, only briefly revealing the blue-and-red suit at the end. Alcock, best known for playing Rhaenyra Targaryen on the HBO series House of the Dragon, makes Kara Zor-El her feature-film breakout role.
Supergirl is scheduled for release on June 26, 2026, and is one of several major DC Studios projects next year alongside the HBO series Lanterns in mid-2026 and James Watkins' Clayface on September 11, 2026. It's already been confirmed that James Gunn's next DCU movie, Man of Tomorrow, will feature the return of David Corenswet as Superman and Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, and there might be a chance that Alcock's Supergirl also returns to face the alien threat.
