A new Overwatch voice actor has given a shoutout to r/EmreMains, the subreddit that’s been waiting eight years for the niche lore character Emre to become playable. Members of the community have long been mocked as “hopium huffers” for clinging to the hope that Emre would join the roster.
Blizzard has now confirmed Emre is coming to Overwatch in season 1 alongside four other heroes, part of broader changes happening to the game.
The voice actor, Erdinc, engaged with both English- and Turkish-speaking members of the Emre community in the comments, offering small insights and celebratory messages.
Emre is described as a straightforward damage hero with a health-regen passive and a burst rifle for primary fire. He appears well suited to beginners, though it’s unclear how he will scale for higher-level play.
