While most people likely paid for their new Nintendo Switch 2 with a credit card or cash, one New Yorker converted Citi Bike points into gift cards to buy the $449.99 console. Chris Person of Aftermath completed a seven-month journey to accumulate enough Citi Bike points to cover the price.

Citi Bike's voluntary Bike Angels program awards points to riders who move bikes from overloaded docks to those that need them. Bringing a bike to a station that needs more bikes unlocks a 2X point multiplier, and doing three of those rides unlocks a 3X multiplier; 1,000 points can be converted to a $150 gift card.

Person gamified the system, farming points and min-maxing it in ways you'd expect a gamer to: "I cannot resist the gamer’s grotesque urge to ruin a nice bike ride by minmaxing," he wrote. He also spent part of the seven months unable to ride because of a broken foot.
