Two Bitcoin blocks that appeared untagged on mempool explorers — blocks 932129 and 932167 — were mined by NiceHash, the company confirmed, contradicting social media claims that a solo miner had struck it rich. The blocks initially lacked an immediately visible pool tag, prompting speculation that they were solo-mined.

NiceHash, which runs a hashrate marketplace that connects miners with buyers of computing power rather than a traditional mining pool, said the blocks were produced during internal testing for a forthcoming product. In exclusive comments to Cointelegraph, Sasa Coh, CEO of NiceHash AG, said the issue arose from how block metadata was displayed: “The misconception here is only that the blocks were not labeled by mempool, though they were tagged with NiceHashMining,” Coh said.

“We did not want to stir up any speculation.” NiceHash mined two more blocks on Thursday, the company said. The episode highlighted that block tags are metadata, not protocol guarantees, and that familiar tags can be absent from explorers, leading to rapid and incorrect conclusions.
