Nick Jonas says social anxiety prompted him to step outside at Golden Globes

Nick Jonas stepped outside during the 2026 Golden Globe Awards, People reports, and later explained what caused him to leave the ceremony briefly while attending with his wife, Priyanka Chopra Jonas.

A video caught by Parade showed Jonas taking a sip of water outside; after the clip went viral he replied to a repost on X in which a fan wrote, "social anxiety got the best of him." Jonas agreed, writing, "Yeah…it hit me like a gut punch," and referenced his single "Gut Punch," whose chorus includes the line, "Hit me like a gut punch, I hurt my own feelings." Fans responded with support in the comment section.

Jonas, who lives with type 1 diabetes, has been vocal about mental health and previously said in 2021 that the "mental and emotional health aspect" of the condition is important, noting he speaks to a therapist and has a support system and doctors. Prior to the ceremony he filmed a GRWM in which he said he was wearing a black Berluti pinstriped tuxedo and a Fossil watch, and WWD reported Chopra Jonas wore a custom Dior strapless navy blue gown and presented Best Male Actor in a Television Series – Drama to Noah Wylie.
