A live-action Spider-Man series starring Nicolas Cage is coming to Prime Video. Titled Spider-Noir, the eight-episode drama adopts a Depression-era, 20th-century noir aesthetic and centers on a Spider-Man called The Spider or Spider-Noir — but he isn’t Peter Parker this time.

Cage portrays Ben Reilly, a different take on the wall-crawler that leans into the character’s darker, more tortured history. Ben Reilly first appeared as a Spider-Man clone in The Amazing Spider-Man #149 in 1975 and later adopted the name Ben Reilly in honor of Peter’s Uncle Ben and Aunt May.

The character resurfaced during the 1990s Clone Saga, spent time as the Scarlet Spider and even assumed the primary Spider-Man identity while Peter and Mary Jane stepped away. He was killed in battle in Spider-Man #75 in 1996, later returned as a villain claiming the Jackal identity, and ultimately reverted to the Scarlet Spider after numerous deaths and ordeals.
