Nicole Richie still loves Twiggy-style under-eye lashes from her teens
People reports Nicole Richie, 44, said she still loves a Twiggy-inspired under-eye eyelash look while speaking at Nude by Nature's U.S. debut party in West Hollywood on Jan. 14.
“This is not going to be a popular one, but when I was probably 19, I would draw the Twiggy eyelashes with eyeliner on my under eyes because I love her and just thought that it was fun,” Richie said. “I think especially when you're young, to play with those different looks is so fun and important and you should do it. You should go there,” she added.
Twiggy is hailed as one of the first international supermodels of the '60s and is most recognizable for her dramatically emphasized eyelashes, specifically her clustered bottom lashes. In 2022, she said she was still very "fond" of the look, which she first started doing at age 16, and that "it would take me one and a half hours to apply, including three pairs of false eyelashes."
Richie said she has moved toward a less-is-more approach because of "very sensitive skin," noting she doesn't "wear a lot of makeup in general" and typically uses "moisturizer and concealer" unless attending a big event. She also said her 18-year-old daughter, who goes by her middle name Kate, is in an experimental beauty phase and that Richie encourages her to "go for it; do all the things." It is unclear if the teen has tried her mother's Twiggy-inspired looks.
