Nintendo removes adults-only Animal Crossing: New Horizons island
Kotaku reports that Japanese Animal Crossing creator churip_ccc announced on X that Nintendo shut down their adults-only Animal Crossing: New Horizons island, according to a translation on Automaton.
Automaton reported the island had been created a few months after New Horizons launched in 2020 and was popular with Japanese YouTubers and livestreamers. The island reportedly featured a love hotel flanked by Gallant statues inspired by Michelangelo’s David, neon palm trees used as censorship, a pachinko parlor, and a luxury suite with a rose-shaped bed, in-house jacuzzi and dim lighting. New Horizons players could visit the island using the Dream Island feature, which made a public copy of an island so it could be visited without the owner present.
In the translated post, churip_ccc wrote, “Actually, just a day before the update, the Dream Address for the Adult Island was deleted by Nintendo. To Nintendo, I apologize from the bottom of my heart. Or rather, thank you for turning a blind eye for more than five years. To everyone who visited the island, and to all the streamers who showcased it in their videos, thank you so much.” Automaton said the island is now gone and will remain visible only in videos and accounts of past visitors.
