Olise and Díaz likened to Robben and Ribéry after Bayern’s 8-1 win

According to Goal, Michael Olise and Luis Díaz were compared to Arjen Robben and Franck Ribéry after both wingers stood out in Bayern Munich’s 8-1 demolition of Wolfsburg at the Allianz Arena on Sunday evening. The pair combined for five goal involvements as Bayern returned from the winter break, with Olise scoring a brace and assisting Díaz’s first-half header after latching onto Konrad Laimer’s pass and whipping in a cross.

Díaz also supplied the pass after the interval that set up Olise’s seventh of the night. The hosts’ rout — aided by two own goals from Kilian Fischer and Moritz Jenz — saw goals from Díaz, Raphael Guerreiro, Harry Kane and Leon Goretzka, while Wolfsburg’s Dzenan Pejcinovic scored in the 13th minute, his fourth in his last two league appearances.

Olise has 12 goals and nine assists this season for Bayern, and Díaz has 14 goals and eight assists in all competitions. Bayern director of sport Max Eberl told Sky Sports Germany: “When I see Michael's position and moves, he resembles Arjen Robben. We were just talking about it in the locker room too: he's kind of the new Robben we've got.
