Olympic Skier Confesses to Cheating During Live Bronze Interview
Norwegian Olympic athlete Sturla Holm Lægreid broke down on live television after winning a bronze medal at the 2026 Winter Olympics in Italy, saying he had cheated on his girlfriend three months earlier. The moment came shortly after he finished the men’s 20km biathlon on February 10.
"There is someone I wanted to share this with who might not be watching today," he said. "Six months ago, I met the love of my life, the most beautiful and kindest person in the world. Three months ago, I made the biggest mistake of my life and was unfaithful." He added that he had admitted a week earlier and that "this has been the worst week of my life." He also said he wanted to be a good role model but had to own his mistakes: "It hurts to admit when you do something you can’t stand for and hurt someone you love so much.
But that’s life now." In a follow-up interview he explained the on-air confession was an attempt to win her back. "I have nothing to lose. I had a chance at true love, and I screwed up so badly. It’s not necessarily forgivable.
