Opus Magnum is getting surprise DLC despite Zachtronics' hiatus — Pcgamer

Opus Magnum, the 2017 puzzle game about building alchemical devices, is getting a surprise new DLC campaign titled Opus Magnum: De Re Metallica. The announcement is notable because Zachtronics, the studio behind the game, has largely been inactive since founder Zach Barth once declared that "Zachtronics is over." Despite that declaration, Barth and others went on to form a new studio, Coincidence, which continued to make games such as Kaizen: A Factory Story.

The Zachtronics label has been revived for the moment, and De Re Metallica will be released by Barth and company under the Zachtronics name. De Re Metallica is described as a prequel that follows a maverick alchemical researcher named Saverio Daas, who believes he can unlock metallurgical secrets that even the Imperial Academy has not uncovered.

A PR representative said that "the future of Zachtronics and revisiting and expanding on other titles is unknown at this time." No price for the DLC has been announced.
