Overwatch 2 will launch its first season of a year-long storyline, The Reign of Talon, starting February 10. The update was described as the biggest the game has ever had and a marked shift in the game's vision following recent story changes. Blizzard is releasing five new heroes at once: tank Domina; damage heroes Anran and Emre; and support heroes Jetpack Cat and Mizuki.

In previews, Domina's shield breaks in sections, Anran's ultimate has two versions that can either burn enemies or, if used while dead, revive her, and Jetpack Cat can attach a rope to players to toss them off the map or pick up allies. The season will explore the fallout of Vendetta's takeover of Talon and the developer plans to add another five heroes before the end of the year at a rate of one per season.

The update also introduces new hero sub-roles with passive bonuses, an overhauled UI, Stadium mode icons, a Hero Builder feature, story-based skins, a lootbox refresh, and several mid-season mythic items.
