Overwatch gives five free loot boxes and double XP this weekend
Overwatch's big Season 1 reimagining, which drops the infamous '2' in its name, adds five new heroes, reworks maps and overhauls the UI, has given the game a new lease on life. The relaunch even pushed the title to its all-time player count on Steam, and it's still holding strong.
As "a token of appreciation for keeping the matches rolling," Blizzard is offering double match XP and five free lootboxes over the weekend, from Friday, 20 February, until Monday, 23 February, starting and ending at the reset time in your region, such as 11 am PT / 2 pm ET / 7 pm GMT.
Those five bonus lootboxes sit next to the 14 compensation boxes granted for last week's progression fumble, and ongoing events like Conquest and Year of the Horse (Lunar New Year) also dole out loot. Together they leave players with a healthy stockpile for little effort.
