Overwatch adds Jetpack Cat support hero Fika, Blizzard explains why
Blizzard is adding Jetpack Cat, also known as Fika, to Overwatch as a Support-class hero. The character is part of a group of new heroes due with Overwatch season 1 on Feb. 10 and was previously described as too ridiculous for the game when first proposed. Fika introduces permanent flight to the roster and can tether to teammates to carry them, as well as pick up enemies and drop them into unfavorable positions.
Her kit is centered on a jet-propulsion rig invented by Brigitte and includes Biotic Pawjectiles that heal allies and damage enemies, a Purr healing pulse that can knock back opponents, and a Frenetic Flight ability for quick acceleration. Jetpack Cat will be the third playable animal in the game, following Winston and Wrecking Ball, and is voiced by Jennifer Hale.
Developers said bringing the concept to life now fit the evolved direction of Overwatch. The hero traces back to a 2017 concept that was set aside after then-game director Jeff Kaplan felt it didn’t fit the universe.
