Pablo Schreiber and Weruche Opia will join a returning Eddie Redmayne for the second season of The Day of the Jackal. Debuting in late 2024, Ronan Bennett’s adaptation of Frederick Forsyth’s novel became an immediate hit, becoming the biggest new series to launch on Sky in the U.K.

and ranking among the 10 most-streamed original dramas in both its opening week and the week of its finale. The show was renewed almost as soon as it premiered, with some expecting a return to Peacock in late 2026 or early 2027. The story follows an unrivaled and highly elusive lone assassin, the Jackal (Eddie Redmayne), who makes his living carrying out hits for the highest fee.

Following his latest kill, he meets his match in a tenacious British intelligence officer (Lashana Lynch), sparking a cat-and-mouse chase across Europe that leaves destruction in its wake. Critics have responded positively: the series holds an 85% critics rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
