Palworld lead denies secret investors amid Highguard drama

Pocketpair's head of publishing and communications, John 'Bucky' Buckley, says the monster-taming hit Palworld has no secret investors beyond player spending.
He made the comment in response to online claims that the game might have received investment from tech giant Tencent.
Tencent does have stakes in many studios, including Riot Games (League of Legends), FromSoftware (Elden Ring) and Larian Studios (Baldur's Gate 3), and has been linked to Highguard maker Wildlight Entertainment.
Buckley noted the only real influx of funds has come from players buying into the game's 'Pokemon-with-guns' phenomenon.
