Pat Smear to miss start of Foo Fighters' 2026 Take Cover tour after accident
Collider reports Foo Fighters guitarist Pat Smear will miss the start of the band's 2026 Take Cover tour after a New Year’s "bizarre gardening accident" left him unable to perform.
The band posted an Instagram mock magazine cover announcing that Smear had apparently "smashed the s*** out of his left foot," showing him laughing while being carried on a stretcher and giving the camera the middle finger. The post said he will miss shows while the "multiple broken bones in his foot" heal, and Dave Grohl has brought "Beck and St. Vincent guitar wizard Jason Falkner" in to fill in while Smear recovers.
The Take Cover tour is due to begin in Guanajuato, Mexico in just a few days, with three January dates before a break until May, so Smear is expected to miss at least the first leg. Fans have sent well wishes, and it is hoped he will be back for the tour's second leg in May.
