People reports New England Patriots left tackle Will Campbell said he is more afraid of cats than competing in the Super Bowl during his rookie season.

Campbell, 22, shared the origin of his feline fear from a media appearance, saying he was sleeping over at a friends house as a teenager when a cat startled him. He described entering a dark room, taking his shirt off and hearing a screech before the animal jumped onto his leg; "I kicked it, it was biting me I'm not going to just let it," he said. When asked if the cat survived, Campbell replied, "I hope not," and later declined to apologize, saying, "No. It needs to apologize for biting my damn leg."

Campbell played for Louisiana State University and was selected fourth overall by the Patriots in the 2025 NFL Draft. He played in 13 games during his rookie season, missing four due to an injury, and will face the Seattle Seahawks in his first Super Bowl on Sunday, Feb. 8.
