Cbssports reports the New England Patriots tied an NFL playoff record on Sunday when they sent out Andres Borregales for a 63-yard field-goal attempt with one second left in the second quarter of the AFC Championship Game in Denver.

Coach Mike Vrabel chose the 63-yard try over a Hail Mary with Drake Maye. Going into Sunday, there had only been two attempts of 60 yards or longer in NFL postseason history: Greg Zuerlein's 63-yarder for the Rams against the Cowboys in the 2018 divisional round (missed) and Mike Cofer's 60-yarder for the 49ers against the Vikings in the 1989 divisional round (missed). Borregales' kick went wide left; he was a sixth-round pick for the Patriots in the 2025 NFL Draft and had been 4 of 4 on regular-season kicks of 50 yards or longer. The report notes trying a long kick in Denver is not unusual—three of the 16 field goals of 63 yards or longer in NFL history have come there—and that while the 2025 season produced six kicks of 60 yards or longer, including Cam Little's NFL-record 67-yarder, none of those long kicks have occurred in the postseason.

Borregales did convert a 23-yard field goal in the third quarter to give New England a 10-7 lead. With a trip to Super Bowl LX on the line, the game remains tight in Denver, and the outlet suggested checking its live blog for the latest scores and stats.
