The film secured three major trophies at the ceremony, with Anderson also winning Best Director and Best Adapted Screenplay. It beat competition that included Bugonia, Frankenstein, Hamnet, Jay Kelly, Marty Supreme, Sentimental Value, Sinners, Train Dreams and Wicked: For Good. Leonardo DiCaprio and Chase Infiniti were nominated for Best Actor and Best Actress respectively; Timothée Chalamet and Jessie Buckley won those acting awards. Jacob Elordi took Best Supporting Actor for Frankenstein and Amy Madigan won Best Supporting Actress for Weapons.
One Battle After Another has dominated early awards season and is now considered a frontrunner for the 98th Academy Awards; Oscar nominations are due Jan. 22 and the ceremony is set for Mar. 15. The film, about an ex-revolutionary trying to survive off-grid while pursued by a corrupt military officer, has drawn strong praise and streaming word-of-mouth despite struggling at the box office and could secure multiple Oscar nominations.
