According to Cadena SER, Real Madrid president Florentino Perez reportedly held personal meetings with Jude Bellingham and four other players to demand an immediate change in attitude following the dismissal of Xabi Alonso. The report says Perez intervened after identifying a lack of intensity and self-demand.

He is said to have summoned Bellingham for a private summit, asking the England international to show more leadership and fight as the club’s level of performance had dropped below its expected standard. Perez also met one-on-one with youngsters Arda Guler and Franco Mastantuono, who had reportedly drifted under Alonso.

Cadena SER says Mastantuono is looking like the player he was at the start of the season, while Guler is now closer to the level the club expected when he was signed. The president’s talks reportedly addressed positional discipline too. Versatile midfielders Federico Valverde and Eduardo Camavinga had “recoiled with public complaints” when asked to fill in at full-back; Cadena SER says both are now performing those defensive duties “without a peep,” allowing the new coach to plug gaps without dressing-room unrest.

The intervention came amid reports of a toxic atmosphere under Alonso, whose tenure was said to be marred by a disconnect with senior players and rigid tactics.
