Peter Facinelli open to revisiting his Nurse Jackie role
Peter Facinelli is best known to Twilight fans as Carlisle Cullen, the compassionate doctor at the center of the Cullen family. While filming the Twilight films he was also part of Showtime's Nurse Jackie, playing Dr. Fitch Cooper — a petulant, competitive, socially awkward emergency physician who nevertheless remained a likable presence.
At a post-screening Q&A for the original Twilight at Big Lick Comic-Con in Roanoke, Virginia, Facinelli said he regularly shot both projects at the same time and never mixed the characters. He called the period “the best time of my life,” describing back-and-forth travel between sets and the fun of playing two very different doctors.
Facinelli argued that those roles showed on-screen doctors can't be stereotyped: 'it’s the person in the occupation you play.' He noted that characters can range widely — from renegades to compassionate goofballs — and that an occupation shouldn't define a character.
