Phuket and Bangkok offer budget-friendly mid-range stays
Thailand’s tourism market spans hostels to five-star resorts, and its mid-range hotels now offer substantial amenities without the higher prices seen in Europe or the Americas. The country’s two most visited destinations, Phuket and Bangkok, provide a range of affordable experiences, and connections between them by sleeper train or low-cost airline are described as easy.
On Phuket, the island’s roughly 30 golden beaches include Freedom beach near Patong, and attractions range from ethical animal reserves such as Phuket Elephant Sanctuary to dive sites in Sirinat national park where leatherback turtles come ashore. Patong offers sunrise yoga, Thai cooking classes and the free spectacle of Bangla Walking Road.
Mid-range properties such as DoubleTree by Hilton Phuket Banthai Resort are highlighted for features including three pools with swim-up bars, a shaded alfresco breakfast salon, a 24-hour fitness centre, a Port restaurant serving local seafood and organic produce, and resort-wide solar power.
In Bangkok, neighbourhoods such as Khlong San combine temples like Wat Thong Thammachat with lively night markets, while newer developments in Ploenchit showcase shopping malls including Central Embassy and food halls like Eathai.
