Playground Games says Fable uses mockumentary interviews throughout the game
Gamesradar reports that Playground Games says its Fable reboot uses mockumentary-style interview segments throughout the game, not just in trailers. Ralph Fulton told Xbox Wire, "I think a lot of people assume we just did that for those trailers, but it’s actually a device we use throughout the game."
Fulton said the team "kind of nicked" the approach from The Office and drew on a wide range of British comedies including Peep Show and The IT Crowd, arguing the format allows jokes or character detail to land more naturally than in standard dialogue. The studio has already used the device in trailers that feature a giant Richard Ayoade and Matt King in interviewer-style segments.
Fulton also said the reboot will lean into the series' British cast and that "we'll talk more about the cast in future." The report notes uncertainty about how in-game interviews will be rationalized in Albion — "as far as we know, cameras don't actually exist in the fairytale world" — and says the game is due to launch later this year.
