Pochettino return to Spurs faces World Cup disruption warning — Goal

Tottenham have been cautioned that bringing Mauricio Pochettino back this summer may be complicated by his USMNT commitments. The club are searching for a new head coach after sacking Thomas Frank, with Bobby Zamora speaking about the options in an interview with GOAL.

Zamora said Pochettino could not begin until after the World Cup and argued that a national-team role makes it difficult to focus fully on a Premier League job. He added that Poch would want a full pre-season, while many players may not return from international duty until the end of July and will require a break.

Other big clubs are likely to be interested once Pochettino’s USMNT contract ends, with vacancies expected at Manchester United and Real Madrid and talk of changes at Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain. Zamora noted Spurs’ strong infrastructure and Pochettino’s fond memories of the club, but said the final piece of the puzzle has not been solved in recent years.
