Pokémon TCG's new set Ascended Heroes has started to surface and already one card is commanding a huge pre-release price: a Mega Gengar ex listing reached about $1,300 on eBay, Kotaku reports, even though parts of the set were delayed this week.

Official reveals for Mega Gengar ex SIR and Mega Charizard Y ex were circulated on social media — a tweet from Pokemon Deals, Restocks & News (@PokemonTCGIntel) on Nov. 20, 2025 showed the cards — and reseller listings popped up as attention grew.

Kotaku notes other cards from the set are also fetching high amounts: Team Rocket’s Mewtwo ex has been listed at steep prices and was reportedly bought by at least one buyer for $900 on the secondary market.

The set’s partial delay didn’t stop resellers from pricing cards aggressively; Kotaku’s write-up frames the current market as another example of pre-release Pokémon card prices spiraling out of control and cautions buyers about the expense.

With official reveals circulating and shipments delayed, it remains unclear whether these early resale prices will hold once the set fully reaches stores and supply stabilizes.
