Pokémon Day 2026: 30th anniversary could bring Champions date and Gen 10 reveal

Pokémon Day falls each year on Feb. 27, and 2026 marks the franchise's 30th anniversary — a milestone that has fans expecting major announcements despite no official word from The Pokémon Company International. At the time of writing, a Pokémon Presents for Pokémon Day 2026 has not been announced.

The event has featured a Pokémon Presents in most recent years, and Polygon notes it would be surprising if there were no presentation; fans can likely expect something on the official Pokémon YouTube channel, around 9 a.m. EST. One announcement the presentation is widely expected to include is a release date for Pokémon Champions.

The game has already been confirmed as the VGC software for the Pokémon World Championships in August, which means it must be released prior to that event — making Pokémon Day a logical time for a date reveal. Pokémon Presents also commonly expands on known projects, so more information on upcoming releases like life-sim Pokémon Pokopia (due in March) is possible.

Polygon also mentions other potential topics such as Detective Pikachu 2, Pokémon’s expanding Universal Studios collaborations, and the recently announced Pokémon Lego sets arriving Feb. 26. Separately, Pokémon Go will turn 10 this summer, and major anniversary events are expected.
