Pokémon Pokopia arriving on Switch 2 on March 5
Kotaku reports Pokémon Pokopia, an Animal Crossing–style life sim, will launch on Switch 2 on March 5. The game stars a Ditto that transforms into a customizable human form, implied to embody a missing trainer, and teams up with a graying Tangrowth called Professor Tangrowth to rebuild a desecrated town into habitats for Pokémon.
Ditto learns new abilities—using water attacks to water plants and fire attacks to cook and burn objects—and can transform into other Pokémon for traversal, such as a Lapras to swim or a Dragonite to fly. As you restore the land, Pokémon will arrive with requests and you’ll construct homes, Pokémon Centers and other utilities to grow a community.
A few returning monsters have named variants: Peakychu is a pale-white Pikachu with a ghostly aura; Professor Tangrowth has white vines, glasses and a broken Technical Machine on its head; Mosslax is wrapped in vegetation; and Smearguru is a Smeargle covered in plant splotches. As best as the coverage can tell, these appear to be named characters and remain members of existing species.
