Prime Video confirms 'Fallout' Season 3 — writing underway, filming set for May 2026
Prime Video renewed Fallout for a third season in May 2025, and the show’s creative team says writing is underway; Production List reports Season 3 will begin filming in May 2026 in Santa Clarita, California. Executive producer Jonathan Nolan told IGN in December that “we're hoping to be shooting against next summer.” There is still no official release date for Season 3.
Todd Howard told Variety in December, "For us on the game and TV show side, we’re writing Season 3 now," and given the time needed to finish scripts and film, the series’ team and some observers expect a possible 2027 release window. Prime Video has not formally announced the Season 3 cast.
The MovieWeb report says fans can likely expect regulars such as Ella Purnell and Aaron Moten (who plays Maximus) and that Walton Goggins could return; Season 2 added names like Kumail Nanjiani, Macaulay Culkin, and Justin Theroux, so more big additions are possible. The creative direction for Season 3 is unclear.
Season 2 is set in New Vegas, and some viewers speculate a move to the Commonwealth or the Capitol Wasteland. Howard told Dextero the show can "jump locations, we can jump timelines," and Jonathan Nolan has discussed telling an original story within the Fallout universe rather than following a single game.
