Prime Video sets Elle premiere for July 1 and renews Legally Blonde prequel
Collider reports Prime Video confirmed that Elle, a Legally Blonde prequel series starring Lexi Minetree as a young Elle Woods, will begin streaming on July 1 and has already been renewed for a second season, which is now in production.
Season 1 follows Elle in high school, exploring the experiences that shaped her into the character from the original Legally Blonde film. Reese Witherspoon is producing the series and praised Minetree’s performance, saying the show’s themes of kindness, authenticity and believing in yourself will resonate; Amazon MGM Studios head of global television Peter Friedlander said ordering a second season reflects belief in the creative vision and the team behind the series.
The show was created for television by Laura Kittrell, who is showrunning and producing alongside Witherspoon. The cast includes June Diane Raphael as Elle’s mother Eva and Tom Everett Scott as her father Wyatt, with Gabrielle Policano, Jacob Moskovitz, Chandler Kinney and Zac Looker among the principal cast and several recurring players; the original Legally Blonde film is streaming on MGM+.
