Prime Video sets July 1 release for Legally Blonde prequel Elle, orders Season 2
Movieweb reports Prime Video has announced Season 1 of the Legally Blonde prequel series Elle will arrive on the streamer on July 1, and the show has already been renewed for a second season. Elle stars Lexi Minetree as a young Elle Woods and is set years before Reese Witherspoon's character reaches Harvard, following Woods during her high school years in the 1990s.
The cast also includes June Diane Raphael and Tom Everett Scott as Elle's parents, plus Gabrielle Policano, Chandler Kinney, Jacob Moskovitz, Jessica Belkin, David Burtka, Brad Harder, Kayla Maisonet, Lisa Yamada, and James Van Der Beek. The series was created by Laura Kittrell, who serves as showrunner with Caroline Dries, and executive producers include Lauren Neustadter, Marc Platt, author Amanda Brown, Jason Moore, and Reese Witherspoon.
Prime Video described the renewal as a sign of confidence, with Amazon MGM Studios boss Peter Friedlander saying, "Elle captures the heart, confidence, and optimism that made Elle Woods an enduring cultural icon, while giving audiences a fresh and deeply personal coming-of-age story.
