Prime Video’s Most Bingeable British Crime Series Is Hiding in Plain Sight
British crime dramas have long produced gripping, binge-worthy mysteries, and 2025’s Lynley joined that tradition. The new adaptation of Elizabeth George’s Inspector Lynley novels premiered on BritBox on September 4, 2025 and earned a 91% score on Rotten Tomatoes; one user called it "smart, moody, and quietly gripping." Maggie Lovitt awarded the series an 8/10, noting that "Lynley opts for a more empathetic route" and that "Suter and Barclay quickly establish themselves as the heart and soul of this series." Lynley has also proved successful on streaming, landing on Prime Video’s current U.S.
top ten. That placement is notable given competition from the Walton Goggins and Ella Purnell-led Fallout, the thriller Steal, and the ever-popular The Summer I Turned Pretty. At the time of writing the series has yet to be renewed for a second season, though Elizabeth George’s 22 novels offer plenty of material for more adaptations.
