Prince Andrew ordered to leave Royal Lodge; biographers say Middle East move possible
People reports that former Prince Andrew has been ordered to vacate Royal Lodge after King Charles stripped him of his remaining royal titles and honors, and biographers say the exiled royal is weighing whether to relocate overseas rather than move to Sandringham. The king ordered Andrew to surrender his lease on Royal Lodge in late October 2025, and the former duke is to receive a private residence on the Sandringham estate, with Marsh Farm widely cited as his immediate British destination.
In his new book Windsor Legacy, out Jan. 6, royal biographer Robert Jobson suggests a move to the Middle East is possible, noting “The King saw the King of Bahrain the other day. One never knows — it could be a place where Andrew gets the recognition of being the second son of Queen Elizabeth, rather than this,” and pointing to Andrew’s business ties in Bahrain and the precedent of Spain’s Juan Carlos living in Abu Dhabi.
Fellow biographer Andrew Lownie also believes the Middle East remains a likely option. Sarah Ferguson is said to be seeking an independent home and rebuilding her commercial and writing work apart from Andrew. The couple spent Christmas at Royal Lodge this year while their daughters, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, chose to join the wider royal family at Sandringham; both parents attended Beatrice’s daughter’s christening at St.
