Prince William hosted his first investiture ceremony of 2026 at Windsor Castle on Jan. 14, People reported. The Prince of Wales handed out awards to some people named on King Charles' New Year Honours list. The Prince and Princess of Wales' official Instagram account shared video clips from the day with the caption, "A new year of investitures is underway!

Congratulations to everyone receiving awards today." Those receiving awards in William's group included retired England defender Millie Bright, businessman Frank Rothwell and Dame Clare Barclay, CEO of Microsoft U.K. Bright, who served as a team captain in 2023 and did not play in the 2025 tournament, announced her retirement from professional soccer in a statement in which she said, "The reality of the last decade wearing the Three Lions has surpassed even my wildest dreams.

It's been beyond special for me, and I wish it could last forever." She added, "For me personally, it's a decision I have taken to ensure I can commit fully to my club football and give Chelsea everything they need from me." Around 30 investiture ceremonies are held each year and the duty is currently shared by King Charles, Princess Anne and Prince William.
