Priyanka Chopra Jonas plays pirate assassin in Prime Video film The Bluff
Gamesradar reports the first trailer for The Bluff has arrived, showing Priyanka Chopra Jonas as Ercell Bodden, a mother whose past as a ruthless pirate returns when Karl Urban’s Captain Connor appears intent on revenge.
The clip is set in 1846 and opens with Ercell living with her daughters until Connor, described as a killer from her past life, turns up. Her children discover she was once a famous assassin-style pirate known as Bloody Mary and that she remains lethal. Frank E. Flowers directs from a screenplay he co-wrote with Joe Ballarini; the cast also includes Ismael Cruz Córdova, Safia Oakley-Green, Vedanten Naidoo, Temuera Morrison, Zack Morris, David Field and Pacharo Mzembe. Anthony and Joe Russo are listed as executive producers.
Per the official tagline, The Bluff is a "gritty, adrenaline-fueled action-adventure about family, survival, and the indomitable strength of a mother’s love." Prime Video describes the film as enjoyably watchable with "family and friends" despite its explicit violence. The Bluff hits Prime Video on February 25. The project was first announced in 2021 with Zoey Saldana attached to play Ercell and Netflix set to distribute; Saldana remained with the project as an executive producer.
