'Pulp Fiction' star Peter Greene's cause of death revealed
The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner said Peter Greene died from an accidental gunshot wound to the left axilla that injured the brachial artery.
He was found unresponsive at his Clinton Street apartment on the Lower East Side around 3:25 p.m. on Dec. 12, 2025, and was pronounced dead; police said no foul play was suspected. A neighbor said Greene was lying face down with a facial injury and blood present, and described a strange note that reportedly read, "I'm still a Westie."
Longtime manager Gregg Edwards called Greene "a terrific guy" and "truly one of the great actors of our generation," saying Greene had been scheduled for surgery to remove a benign tumor near his lung the day he was found and had seemed "totally normal" on their last call. Born in Montclair, N.J., in 1965, Greene was known for villainous roles such as Zed in Pulp Fiction and Dorian Tyrell in The Mask, had more than 95 acting credits, and had been preparing to star in the independent thriller Mascots with Mickey Rourke.
