Ray J told TMZ on Thursday that doctors have advised bedrest and put him on eight different medications as he fights for his life, including Jardiance and Entresto for people at high risk of heart failure and the cholesterol drug Lipitor. He earlier said on Instagram this week that he has been given “months to live.” The 45-year-old noted he may get a pacemaker or defibrillator but won’t know until a follow-up appointment in two weeks.

He also said he is considering traveling to Haiti for treatment. Ray J has described his heart as “black,” saying it is only beating at about 60 percent. He acknowledged heavy past substance use — saying he drank “four or five bottles a day” and took “10 Addys” — and said the lifestyle “curved my time here.” He also posted that “2027 is definitely a wrap for” him and thanked supporters for their prayers.

He claimed he had been hospitalized and “almost died,” appearing to reference a TMZ report from Jan. 7 about a severe case of pneumonia and “heart pains”; he previously had a serious bout of pneumonia in 2021. Ray J said his estranged wife Princess Love and their children will be taken care of.

He currently cannot see his children because of a criminal protective order; he was arrested in November 2025 over an alleged incident with Princess Love and released the same day after posting $50,000 bail.
