Rayan has made an immediate impact in England. Three games after his transfer to Bournemouth, the 19-year-old has already scored twice and added an assist, prompting talk that the €35 million Vasco accepted could prove modest. His early displays have also thrust him into the conversation about Brazil’s attacking options ahead of the World Cup.

Raised in Vasco da Gama’s system, Rayan grew up around the club and is the son of former Vasco defender Valkmar. A 2017 GE report recorded that he had scored 280 goals by age 11 between futsal and outdoor football. He debuted in the Campeonato Carioca in January 2023 and, in June that year, became Vasco’s youngest goalscorer of the century with his first senior goal against Internacional; the arrival of Fernando Diniz in 2025 then helped him finish the season with 20 goals in 57 matches.

Interest came from clubs across Europe and the Middle East, but he signed for Bournemouth in January 2026 on a contract through June 2031 in what became Vasco’s biggest sale.
