Rebecca Ferguson’s Lost Fantasy Thriller Is Now Easier Than Ever To Watch
Rebecca Ferguson’s early turn in Hercules is easier to watch now that the film is streaming free on Tubi. Released in 2014, the movie stars Dwayne Johnson as a battle-worn Hercules — not a god, but a man whose reputation has grown larger than the truth. Ferguson plays Ergenia, a Macedonian princess caught in a political power struggle.
Even in an early role she displays quiet authority and emotional clarity, drawing focus without forcing it. She avoids the passive fantasy archetype, coming across as sharp, observant and very aware of the men who underestimate her. Rather than leaning into monsters and magic, the film adapts The Thracian Wars and treats Hercules as a mercenary whose legend is carefully constructed by his loyal team.
Brett Ratner’s direction can be uneven, but the supporting cast — including Ferguson, Ian McShane and Rufus Sewell — helps ground the story.
