Rebecca Ferguson's Mercy Ends Theatrical Run With $53 Million Global Gross

Mercy was released on transactional streaming platforms this week after an underwhelming month in theaters. The film has not yet recouped its reported $60 million budget, but positive audience scores have boosted its performance on home video: on its first day in the PVOD market Mercy rose to the top of the domestic viewership charts.

Box office receipts stand at roughly $24 million domestically and $29 million overseas, giving Mercy a cumulative global haul of $53 million. Industry estimates suggested the film would ideally have needed about $150 million worldwide to break even, so the theatrical return fell well short.

The sci-fi thriller stars Chris Pratt as a police officer accused of murdering his wife and Rebecca Ferguson as the artificial-intelligence judge hearing his case.
