Rebecca Gayheart withdrew divorce filing after Eric Dane’s ALS diagnosis
Rebecca Gayheart withdrew her divorce filing from Eric Dane after he was diagnosed with ALS, saying she wanted to teach their daughters, Billie, 15, and Georgia, 13, to "show up for family." She explained the decision on the "Broad Ideas" podcast last November: "We tell them, 'We show up for people no matter what.
He is our family. He is your father.'" Gayheart said her focus during Dane's diagnosis was on the girls' well-being, and that they felt "taken care of" even though "things are hard and sad and bad." The two married in 2004; she filed for divorce in 2018. They called off the divorce last March after seven years of separation, and one month later Dane went public with his ALS diagnosis.
Describing their relationship as "super complicated," Gayheart admitted she didn't know if withdrawing the filing was the right move: "I'm just showing up and trying to be there for [my kids].
