Kotaku reports that after the Russo Brothers told fans the four trailers they premiered in theaters this past month were "not teasers" but "clues" to "pay attention" to, a Reddit user named Fear_Itself posted on the MCUTheories subreddit (thanks, IGN) saying they "cracked the code" on the Avengers: Doomsday teasers.

The theory focuses on brief timestamps that flash just before the clock counts down to Doomsday's December 18 release date in each trailer. On a hunch the Redditor checked where those timestamps land in Avengers: Endgame and found three of the four line up with scenes in which characters discuss or witness the effects of time travel on the multiverse; the user points out that a large chunk of Endgame has the Avengers traveling through time to recover the Infinity Stones and wonders the timestamps could hint Doomsday results from that meddling. Skeptics note the X‑Men trailer's timestamp lands on a comedic Asgard scene with Thor and Rocket, suggesting the matches might be coincidences.

The piece cautions that misinformation about the MCU is rampant and that much company-approved messaging has been thin, and says that with 11 months to go before Doomsday releases—and after the directors urged fans to look for clues—speculation is likely to continue until more official information appears.
