RedMagic launches slimmer, cheaper 11 Air gaming phone in China
Gamesradar reports RedMagic has launched its latest gaming handset in China, the RedMagic 11 Air, arriving shortly after Asus may have bowed out of the race to make gaming phones.
The 11 Air trims several features from the brand's flagship 11 Pro, taking RAM speeds down from LPDDR5T to LPDDR5X and removing the Pro's glowing liquid cooling. RedMagic says it refreshed the internal 24,000 RPM fan to increase airflow by 21% while halving noise, and upgraded the 4D Cooler VC to a thicker Ice-Stage VC the company claims improves thermal efficiency by 47%; RedMagic did not make clear whether that comparison is versus the 11 Pro. The 11 Pro remains the brand's current flagship and launched towards the end of last year, later retailing at $749.
The 11 Air launched in China at 3,699 RMB and is available in black and white with configurations from 12GB+256GB to 16GB+512GB. A 3,699 RMB launch price may translate to a $549 MSRP for a western release, and wider release details are set to follow on January 29.
